Butterfly

Deena Ochoa Stevenson
You were closer to me than anyone had ever been
Yet I never truly held you
Never had the chance to touch you
My little caterpillar
All wrapped up in your cocoon
You would've been the most beautiful butterfly
You would've soared so high
Brought a smile to all those around you
And never known a life without love
Yes, butterfly wings would have suited you perfectly
It seems angel wings will have to do
