When You Can't Think of Anything to Say
Alkaid Tsuki
What can I say to lighten up the conversation?
It should be spilling out of me,
Words flowing as free as fresh tap water.
But for some reason, the sink is full,
And I’ve run out of water to free.
What can I say when there’s nothing but silence
In a room of more than one?
I’d like to laugh and proclaim, “I’ve got this,”
But then the world freezes around me
Turning the room a stony grey
And my arms to half-ton weights.
Breaking the walls requires a sledgehammer
And a spike of power
That I simply lack with my weights
Clinging tightly.
What can I say when there’s really nothing to say?
When the conversation is silent?
When emptiness speaks volumes more than a dictionary?
When the silence wraps around my throat like a cobra,
Draining words like freshly drawn blood?
It should be spilling out of me,
Words flowing as free as fresh tap water.
But for some reason, the sink is full,
And I’ve run out of water to free.
What can I say when there’s nothing but silence
In a room of more than one?
I’d like to laugh and proclaim, “I’ve got this,”
But then the world freezes around me
Turning the room a stony grey
And my arms to half-ton weights.
Breaking the walls requires a sledgehammer
And a spike of power
That I simply lack with my weights
Clinging tightly.
What can I say when there’s really nothing to say?
When the conversation is silent?
When emptiness speaks volumes more than a dictionary?
When the silence wraps around my throat like a cobra,
Draining words like freshly drawn blood?
