Harbor
Jayla Price
I know you get lost
So deep in your head sometimes the road back isn't always clear-cut
Sometimes it is Timber strewn with wildfire
Sometimes it is a rage that seems to have no beginning and no end
Sometimes it is a deep Cavern with only one way down and no ways up
I know you cannot find yourself there
The darkness clinging to your skin like a fog
There is no moon to light your way
Death there is not always a someday thought
Not always old and ragged
Though I know it is always tired
So sick of the heaviness of moving
It seems a little less than just a place to fall
Remember this is not your forever home
You do not have to live here
Do not listen to what the darkness tells you between the Shadows of your thoughts
Look for tiny hand holds in the mortars between her bricks
Do not allow broken promises to chain you here
Do not let your heartache be the shackles on your wrists
There is no solace in the emptiness
It is just a rope for you to hang yourself with
Instead try to look for the gifts
See how that heartache has helped you grow
Now more sturdy Oak then fragile sapling
Your bark hardened to weather the storm
Each broken promise a branch for you to pull yourself up with
Sometimes you have to prune away dying limbs
So you won't be held down by the weight of ignorance
You are not alone in this
If the darkness still feels impenetrable
Let my love for you light the way
I too have many broken branches
I have been to the base of this Cavern before
My roots are still buried there
The climb can be hard work sometimes
Let me carry you
Let me build for you a sturdy Foundation so the fall will not break you
Let me line the boughs with lanterns so you will not lose your way
I will not let your spirit live here
Will not let you be devoured by despair
In me you will always have a harbor to come home to
