flawed humanity

Halley Ware
Society preaches: Freedom of tongue, clean
Air for our lungs, and peace and love for everyone.
But my tongue has been tattooed
With their disbelief and mockery. Smoke
Rises from my misread Bible, set
To suffocate me.

I have been labeled a hater based on someone else’s history
Because I believe in the same book held by murderous men
Because when they wanted to hold you down and beat your skull in,
It was the closest thing to them.
Crusaders who only ever used their Bible to prey
On those who had less than.
Crucifiers and Colonizers
Forging the word of God into a sword,
Set out to destroy His plans.
It’s all hypocrisy.
We are just imperfect people representing perfection imperfectly.

The flaw is not God, it’s humanity.
