Fireball

Michelle Lee
The shatter of rocks bursting
The hot embers burning
Lying there dying in a dream
I am somehow at peace with leaving
this place of broken things

Ships throwing fireballs and people running
Horns blowing and the dark ones coming
As I lay there with my arms stretched out and bloody
he called my name
Inside myself I could hear nothing
but a faint whisper of death

Lying there my hands open my body weak
he called my name again loudly
I looked up and what did I see?
A man on a black horse come to carry me
My nightmare became dark suddenly

There in the blackest of night
a knight held an indigo light
so I followed it down the path
There before me an altar and bath
The knight now nowhere to be found

I sunk into the water and then I fell asleep sound
Space and time flickered like a star
A swirl of celestial air caught my breath
I saw nebulas and angels fly

In my dream this is how I die
