The bold young man set off on a journey,
he wanted to prove that his love was undying.
He swore to his lover he’d find her a diamond
as bright as the stars in the sky.

He kept his word, and mined her a diamond.
He pulled the stone up from South African soil.
He forged her a ring out of gold from the ocean,
and hoped she would be his wife.

Before he returned, he was killed by a lion.
They found the ring clutched in his blood spattered hand. His lover received the ring in the mail,
and scrubbed the blood off with a toothbrush.
